SITE Professor Gregor V. Bochmann has been awarded the A.G.L. McNaughton Gold Medal by IEEE Canada
January 25, 2011
Recipients of this medal are outstanding Canadian engineers recognized for their exemplary contributions to the engineering profession. Dr. V. Bochmann’s research group works on methods for the development of communication protocols and distributed systems, on the use of formal methods for the analysis, design and implementation of communication protocols, and software development in general.
Practical applications of these methods are pursued in relation with network protocols (e.g. Internet and optical networks), Web Services, workflow management, and peer-to-peer systems. (See historical perspective)
Professor V. Bochmann teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on software engineering and the design of distributed systems at the Faculty’s School of Information Technology and Engineering.
IEEE Canada is the Canadian arm (as Region 7) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as well as the constituent society of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) for the technical fields of electrical, electronics, and computer engineering. IEEE Canada remembers, through this award, General McNaughton’s contributions to the engineering profession in Canada.
