January 21, 2010
The Faculty of Engineering is pleased to announce the addition of a new Bioinformatics Options for undergraduate students enrolled in the Computer Science program.
Bioinformatics is a new field of research that applies mathematical and computer science theories to organize, model, and help understand fundamental biological and biomedical problems. Bioinformatics stems from strong and fruitful interactions between biology and computer science. It aims to answer fundamental questions about the structure, function, and evolution of living organisms through the application of computational techniques. Bioinformatics will have a profound impact on our understanding of human health and disease, with applications relevant for society.
The new Computer Science Bioinformatics option demonstrates the Faculty’s dedication in giving our students greater freedom to specialize their education towards the career of their dreams.
