BDR Technologies has been named a finalist in the New England Venture Summit
December 20, 2010
This competition highlights private companies that are playing a leading role in innovation for the Technology, Life Sciences and Clean-tech sectors.
BDR Technologies Inc. is an Ottawa-based clean energy company that provides innovative process solutions for the global biodiesel industry. BDR’s novel membrane reactor generates high quality biodiesel, exceeding industry standards (and the more stringent standards demanded by big oil), at significantly reduced capital and operating costs, without the need for costly downstream distillation of the final product. This technology is based on membrane research by André Tremblay and Marc Dubé, two University of Ottawa engineering professors.
A four million litre per year demonstration plant is in development and is projected to be commissioned in late 2011. The technology has been licensed exclusively to BDR. This technology can generate biodiesel fuel with conventional technology without the complications of preliminary processing or fear of cold-weather plugging. This problem can develop when some biodiesel is mixed with conventional fuels.
BIODIESEL REACTOR (BDR) TECHNOLOGIES has been selected to present as one of 70 Top Innovators at the annual Summit by youngStartup Ventures. Ken Lawless, CEO of BDR Technologies, will represent the company at the Summit where over 400 entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate developers will gather to learn more about the innovations from leading edge companies.
