Abdulmotaleb El Saddik is recipient of the 2012 George S. Glinski Award for Excellence in Research

The Teaching Personnel Committee (FTPC) of the Faculty of Engineering has selected Dr. Abdulmotaleb El Saddik, Professor and University of Ottawa Research Chair in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), as the recipient of the Faculty of Engineering 2012 George S. Glinski Award for Excellence in Research.

A Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), and of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) and the recipient of many other national and international awards, Dr. El Saddik has made significant contributions to engineering in the telecommunications industry and more specifically in the areas of digitization, communication, interactive multimedia computing, and haptics.

The members of the FTPC were thoroughly impressed by Dr. El Saddik’s achievements in research and in graduate supervision. His nomination dossier submitted by the EECS Teaching Personnel Committee and by Dr. Carlisle Adams, Interim Director of EECS, included many strong letters of support and testimonials that demonstrate the national and international reach of his scholarly activities and the impact of his research work.

Dr. El Saddik Abdulmotaleb’s many contributions to the advancement of knowledge and training of graduate students also enhances the reputation and influence of our faculty and our university.
