Abdulmotaleb El Saddik receives the Technical Award of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society

Professor El Saddik was awarded this prize for his “outstanding contributions to multimedia computing.” He holds the University Research Chair for Ambient Interactive Media and Applications. In addition, he is the director of the Multimedia Communications Research Laboratory,
Dr. El Saddik’s research focus is establishing a framework of software tools to define an ambient-based collaborative haptic audio visual environment (C-HAVE). Thereby making the exchange of data in that environment fully interactive and personalized, allowing users on the Internet to experience an enhanced telepresence, made up of images, sounds, and touch.
The Society presented its 2010 Society Awards at I2MTC 2011 in Binjiang, Hangzhou, China.
Abdulmotaleb El Saddik was also named a 2010 Distinguished Scientist by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the first ever at the School of EECS (formerly SITE) . Also this year, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC).
