Role and Responsibilities of the Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee for the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Fund (EIEF) in the Faculty of Engineering is comprised of members from the academic and business communities. Through their depth of experience and expertise, these individuals will provide advice and assistance to the Faculty of Engineering in order to foster and develop a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in the Faculty.

The Advisory Committee will provide assistance in three key strategic areas:

Program Development:

  • Provide guidance and advice on the initiatives supported by the Fund
  • Assist in the development of new programs and initiatives to be supported by the Fund
  • Identify other individuals who could participate in the activities supported by the Fund, for example, judges for the award of the prizes and fellowships, mentors for student projects, speakers for the Entrepreneurship Bridges Lecture Series, etc.

Promotion:

  • Promote the objectives and successes of the Fund to the community
  • Participate actively in the activities supported by the Fund
  • Attend two meetings of the Advisory Committee annually
  • Attend events (i.e. Entrepreneurship Bridges Lectures, annual award ceremony) supported by the Fund where possible

Funding:

  • Assist in attracting additional financial support for the Fund
  • Identify individuals and/or organizations with a potential interest in the Fund and its objectives
  • Assist in opening doors with potential funding partners for a meeting with the Dean
