Biography:
Dr. Ahmad Jrade, Ph.D, P.Eng., M.ASCE, is an Assistant Professor of Construction Engineering and Management at the University of Ottawa, Department of Civil Engineering. Before joining U of O, Dr. Jrade was an Assistant Professor and coordinator of the Construction Engineering program in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Western Michigan University for five years. He also held a teaching position at Concordia University.
His doctoral studies consisted of computer integrated construction, 3D-CAD Modeling, Management Information System (MIS) and Life Cycle Cost Analysis. He developed a management information system that integrates 3D-CAD drawings with cost databases to generate conceptual cost estimates in order to forecast future costs and income for proposed building projects based on their size and budget.
Dr. Jrade’s research interests:
- Life cycle cost analysis for conventional and sustainable construction projects;
- Using renewable energy to forecast running costs of building projects;
- Integrating Building Information Modeling and Virtual Reality towards Sustainable Universal Design;
- Zero energy buildings;
- Optimizing and analyzing costs and revenues of construction operations for heavy civil work.
