Biography:
Professor Lan received his PhD in Biochemical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario in 2001. His current research interests lie in three different fields: biotechnology, membrane technology and thermodynamics.
His research initiatives have included the growth of microalgae for biofuel production, CO2 mitigation and wastewater treatment, membrane-facilitated evaporative cooling and the production of biopharmaceuticals using recombinant microorganisms (e.g. virolysins as novel alternatives to antibiotics).
