Graduate Studies in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of two constituents of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (OCIMAE), which administers the joint graduate program in Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. Programs leading to Master’s and PhD degrees are available through the Institute. Requests for information and applications for admission may be made to the Director of the Institute or to the Graduate Studies Officer of either of the participating departments. For further details, consult the OCIMAE web page or the Graduate Studies Calendar for the Institute under master’s or doctoral programs.

Canadian Students: application forms are available on the OCIMAE web site or on the web site of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Teaching assistantships are regulated by a Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 2626.


Financial Support: for information on support offered by the University and the Department, please see Funding [link]. The University offers Canadian or permanent resident Students with admission averages of 8.0 or greater guaranteed funding. The total package is about $14 000 / year for two years for an MASc ($17 000 for a PhD) and includes a guarantee of at least one TA per year. For holders of NSERC or FQRNT scholarships the Department guarantees an additional TA. For details see http://www.etudesup.uottawa.ca/
